A Weekend of ministry and Memories in Lanzarote

A Weekend of Ministry and Memories in Lanzarote

This past weekend, I had the privilege of joining Andoni, the Spanish Global University Representative, and Dan, a fellow Assemblies of God World Missions (AGWM) missionary, on a journey to Lanzarote, Spain. It was a time of meaningful ministry, joyful celebration, and a touch of adventure on this stunning volcanic island.

Day 1: Equipping and Celebrating

The weekend began with a session led by Dan for nine pastors on ministering to Muslims. It was inspiring to witness their eagerness to learn and grow in their calling. That evening, we gathered for a graduation service, a beautiful moment of celebration for four individuals: three who received certificates for completing the Global University Christian Life series and Juan Carlos, who graduated from the Berean School of Ministry.

The church was alive with over 100 attendees worshiping God, celebrating the graduates, and receiving encouraging messages from both Andoni and Dan. The joy and unity in that room were a testament to the work God is doing in Lanzarote.

Day 2: Worship, Ordination, and Teaching

Sunday began with a vibrant worship service where Dan delivered a powerful message. The highlight of the morning was the ordination of Juan Carlos as an ordained minister. Watching the church elders lay hands on him and commission him for ministry was a humbling moment, a clear picture of God raising up leaders for His kingdom.

The afternoon was set aside for prayer and fasting—a time of spiritual renewal and intercession. Dan and Andoni each led heartfelt prayers, and I had the opportunity to share a short message on the fear of God. It was an honor to speak into such a sacred moment.

The day didn’t end there! After a short rest, the evening service began with more worship and impactful messages from both Andoni and Dan. The church’s hunger for God’s Word was evident, and their passion was contagious.

Day 3: Exploring God’s Creation

Monday gave us a chance to explore the breathtaking island of Lanzarote. Juan Carlos was our guide, taking us to places that showcased the island’s unique beauty. From the dramatic cliffs of Mirador del Río in the north to the fiery landscapes of Timanfaya National Park in the southwest, the active volcanoes were a stark reminder of the Creator’s power.

We also visited the striking green lake of Charco Verde in El Golfo and marveled at the natural artistry of the lava formations. It was a day filled with awe and wonder, a reminder that all of creation declares the glory of God.

Day 4: Training and Farewell

On our final day, while Andoni and Dan enjoyed the beach, I had the privilege of teaching a two-hour media class for the church’s media team. It was fulfilling to pour into their ministry by equipping them with tools to better serve their congregation.

Afterward, Juan Carlos took me on a quick souvenir hunt for my boys before showing me the fascinating Lava River, a landscape covered with what was once hot lava. Before heading to the airport, we capped off our trip with a sweet treat—pistachio gelato—a perfect ending to an unforgettable trip.

Reflections

This weekend was a beautiful blend of ministry and fellowship. From equipping pastors to celebrating milestones, from exploring God’s creation to sharing His Word, it was a reminder of the privilege we have to serve Him wherever He calls us.

Lanzarote is not just an island of beauty but a place where God is actively working through His people. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this weekend and am excited to see how God continues to move in this community.

Thank you for your prayers and support as we continue to share the love of God across Spain.
