Every Man, Every Church, Every : 1
Every Man, Every Church, Every Role
Role into Action
Every man, in every church around the world, has a role in the church. That role is not one of complacency, but one of action.
As men, God has specifically chosen us to serve in different roles in His church. God didn’t create us to just stand idly by and watch as the church goes on. In fact, if we don’t stand up and get busy doing the work, our churches will soon be no more. All too often we see church doors close because the people of the church refuse to do the work that is required to grow God’s church. Churches don’t close their doors because of lack of people filling the pews. The doors of the church close because of the lack of men who are willing to stand up and do the work.
When it came time to build the Temple of God, King David had spent years making preparations so that Solomon would be able to fulfill the great task of physically building the Temple. One of the preparations he made was to reappoint the Levites as the priests of the temple and separated out the roles they were to fulfill.
Today, if we are truly Christians, then we are priests as well. We read this in 1 Peter 2:4-5.
1 Peter 2:4-5 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
With that being said, as believers and part of the holy priesthood, we have a role to fulfill in the church.
Over the next few weeks, we will look at several verses in the book of 1 Chronicles that stand out when we think about the role of men in our churches today.
