Weatherly Report • Spring 2023

We have been back in Spain for 10 months now, and are at the end of language school. Though language study will be a never-ending process. We still have a long way to go, but we are feeling more confident in Spanish every day.

In January we made the transition to attending a church plant in the town that we live in. This church has such an awesome redemption story that goes along with it. About 15 years ago, this building was bought by someone that wanted to turn it into a sex club for swingers. It was painted black and remodeled. A group of Missionary Kids from the school that Caleb (our oldest) currently attends, prayed over this building, that it would not become what it was intended for, but that it would be redeemed for God’s glory. The club was never opened, the building sat unused until 2020 when some AG missionaries from Argentina planted a church in this building! Today it is thriving. The pastors have such a heart for Spaniards, and we are so happy to partner with them to reach people for Christ. Usually, evangelical churches here in Spain are mostly attended by Latin Americans. God is moving in this church, and it is over 50% Spanish! While attending the church Adam has been asked to lead the media team, help with photography and the social media.

While Bethany has been staying home with Sam (our 3-year-old), these last few months, she has met several other moms locally, as well as continuing to serve on the board of the Christian school.

We look forward to the months to come as Adam moves from language school to the Global University office here in Madrid. He has attended several meetings with the Director of the Spain office and is helping to prepare for the AG World Congress in October.

If you would like to learn more about Spanish culture and see some of Adam’s photography please visit our website www.showingtheworld.com/blog-news or follow us on social media. We try to write about interesting traditions, as well as what we find beautiful and amazing about where we live and serve.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. We leave you with this blessing from Romans 15:13. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
